The Lost Symbol is another addition to the riveting adventure of Robert Langdon, a Harvard symbology professor. The lost symbol deals with authentic and precise information which gives us a mirror into the enigmatic world of the Masons and the art of Freemasonry. It is an overt fact and almost widely accepted by the masses. The lost symbol busts rumors surrounding freemasonry for a long time, from satanic rituals to occult practices the masons have been accused with practically every heinous deed and associated with abominable crimes across the world.

Book provides a newfangled and unwonted sight to the world of Freemasonry. It makes us question our theories and provide a newfound outlook of The Masons as a gregarious and accepting congregation of intellectual people. The annotations, arcane symbols, and abstruse facts used in the lost symbol makes the reader use google more than once. The lost symbol helped me appreciate a lot about Freemasonry as an art, if you read this book with no prior biasness towards secret societies, freemasonry comes off as an arcane way to preserve the ancient secrets bestowed on us by our forefathers.

Basic human nature allows us to fear every aspect of a material we cannot decipher, freemasonry resembles that, people think of it as a cult where powerful people meet, perform obscure rituals, and decide the fate of the universe.

This book in detail also talks about the Noetic sciences. The character of Katherine Solomon a renowned scientist makes startling discoveries in the field of Noetics. Noetic science deals with the science of humanity. through her inquisitive knowledge and efforts, she even proves the existence of a soul!

This books also presented a lot of unfathomable secrets, here are a few I found interesting:

  • Freemasons are mostly males; it was commenced in the pre-egalitarian era where the male counterpart executed decisions. However, to date, it remains a patriarchal congregation. There is also a sister group to the freemasons known as the Eastern star, it allows admission of only females.
  • The tip of the Washington Monument is engraved with the arcane aluminum symbol ‘laus deo’ which translates to, “Praise be to God.”.
  • The great thinker and mathematician Isaac Newton was into Noetic science and alchemy, it is said that he and Robert Boyle made a startling discovery in the concerned field which was ‘capable of changing humanity as we know it.’ Newton wrote, “the discovery cannot be made public yet without immense damage to the world.” He also exhorted Boyle to keep “high Silence” on the matter.
  • The great painter Durer made a lot of paintings containing a lot of hints to the world of masons and Freemasonry
